Reaching For The Sky

Mixed Media 7x7inches
This is in the lighthouse series though not completely happy with the domed head but could be a tower not necessarily a Lighthouse though to my mind it is.
What works for me in this painting is the sky background with the bands of cloud

Edward Hooper The Long Leg 1935

The Long Leg

The Long Leg

1935

by Edward Hopper

As I am in a lighthouse mode for painting I though I would show a painting by Edward Hooper that feature a lighthouse with the added bonus of a yatch, as with many of Hooper’s paintings it seems to have two things going on in this case the yatch at sea as well as the lighthouse on the land and these are the main focal points. The lighthouse helps those at sea at night or bad weather, so the yatch and lighthouse seperate but need each other, there is always this sense of space in many of Hooper’s paintings

Lavider Mist No1 1950 Pollock, Jackson-What do you see?

Image

This sort of painting can mean many things to different people,Pollock painted this during the height of the cold war and all that around him in America during the early 1950’s when it was not easy to be a Artist….

I like to think of this paiuting as a prelude to the internet, which though not invented then , to my mind shows the intereconnection of everthing and everybody on different levels.

Asl someone else what they se in this painting and they will come up with a  another answer

what do you see?.

Artist Contemplating

Looking out to sea the artist contemplates the next move, soaks in the atmosphere of the sea as it crashes against the rocks down below.Squinting her eyes to look at something distant that has caught her eye,the image burns on the minds eye for a while simmers and stored away for future reference.
The sound of the sea and the seagulls and the smell of the sea, the moment is now and here and forever.
